Itinerary
DAY 01
Rishikesh | Joshimath / Auli
We begin our expedition with a long, scenic drive from Rishikesh, winding up along the Ganga and Alaknanda river valleys past historic prayags (confluences) to the mountain town of Joshimath or Auli.
DAY 02
Auli / Joshimath | Roadhead – Dronagiri Village
Drive to the roadhead point (Jumma) and start our trek with a 4–5 km hike along the roaring Dhauli Ganga tributary, ascending steeply up to the ancient mountain hamlet of Dronagiri (3,500 m).
DAY 03
Dronagiri | Garur–Changbang Base Camp
Trek deeper into the wilderness through the dramatic Bagini Glacier Valley. As the tree line recedes, open views of massive glacial walls guide us to our Garur–Changbang Base Camp (4,100 m).
DAY 04
Base Camp | Acclimatization & Load Ferry
A crucial acclimatization day. We take an active hike towards Rishi Kund and the Bagini Glacier moraine to ferry equipment and help our bodies adjust to the high elevation before returning to Base Camp.
DAY 05
Base Camp | Snow & Ice Technical Training
Spend the day on snow patches and glacier ice practicing essential mountaineering techniques, including crampon usage, ice axe handling, fixed-rope traversal, and self-arrest practice.
DAY 06
Base Camp | Advanced Training & Acclimatization
Further refine high-altitude skills with glacier movement drills, rope team coordination, and rescue procedures while allowing the body to fully adapt to the high-altitude conditions.
DAY 07
Base Camp | Load Ferry to Summit Camp & Return
Climb up technical terrain to carry technical gear, tents, and rations to establish our Summit Camp at 5,250 meters, then descend back to Base Camp for rest and nourishment.
DAY 08
Base Camp | Shift to Summit Camp
Move permanently up to Summit Camp (5,250 m). Settle into high-altitude tents, hydrate, organize climbing gear, and prepare for tomorrow’s midnight summit push.
DAY 09
Summit Camp | Garur Peak Summit Attempt → Base Camp
An alpine start around 2:00 AM. Push up snow slopes, ridgelines, and fixed ropes to reach the summit of Garur Peak (6,000–6,267 m). Enjoy majestic views before making a careful descent back down to Base Camp.

- Medical Check-up: We strongly recommend undergoing a basic medical check-up before arriving at the base camp to ensure your body is ready for high-altitude endurance.
Fitness & Training Requirements
To fully enjoy the breathtaking meadows without injury, you must prepare your body in advance. We recommend a training period of 6–8 weeks for beginners and 3–4 weeks for regular trekkers.

- Be able to climb stairs continuously for 30–40 minutes without major difficulty.
Recommended Weekly Exercise Routine:
- Endurance Practice: Dedicate 4–5 days per week to cardio training, incorporating regular long walks, small practice hikes, and walking on uneven trails while carrying a 5–7 kg backpack.
- Strength Training: Focus on lower body and core stability with 3 sets of 20 squats, 3 sets of 15 lunges, 1–2 minute planks, 15–20 push-ups, calf raises, and step-ups on stairs.
On-Trail Best Practices & Acclimatization
Once you reach high altitudes, physical strength must be balanced with smart mountain habits:
- Pacing: Walk slowly and maintain a steady, consistent rhythm; never rush your ascent.
- Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help your body naturally adjust to the changing altitude.
- Rest: Ensure you take proper rest stops during steep ascents to prevent fatigue.
- Substance Avoidance: Strictly avoid smoking and alcohol consumption during the trek, as they hinder oxygen absorption and slow down acclimatization.
